The November edition of the MySurvey.com newsletter has just been released. Topics covered include a fundraising drive for children’s education in Cambodia, reward redemptions, Spam filtering issues, and results from a recent survey on what kinds of foods people are eating for Thanksgiving. There are also some interesting notes on the types of foods that were served at the original Thanksgiving back in 1621 vs. the foods that people associate with Thanksgiving celebrations today.

UNICEF Imagine… Fundraising Target Reached!

In January 2005, TNS, the parent company of MySurvey.com partnered with UNICEF to fund a preschool project in Cambodia. The purpose of this project was to give children the best possible start to learning and schooling, in a country where many children, especially girls, drop out of school by age five.

We are very pleased announce that we have successfully reached our fundraising goal of $388,000. MySurvey.com panelists have generously donated over $7,000 in Reward Points to this charity partner. The money raised will be used to:

* Build and equip 120 new community pre-school shelters
* Expand access to pre-school learning for 14,500 children aged three to five years
* Train almost 1000 community pre-school teachers

As the UNICEF Imagine… project comes to a close, TNS is working with UNICEF to develop a new education and child development project in another part of the world where the need is great. Once the details of the new project are finalized, we will again give our MySurvey.com members the opportunity to donate to the new UNICEF project. Thank you for “imagining” a better future for Cambodian children with us.

Making Sure Your Survey Invitations Reach You

We all know that unwanted email or SPAM is an ongoing problem. Some email providers and Internet Service Providers (ISPs), such as MSN and Hotmail, may automatically route mail to a bulk mailbox rather than your inbox. It’s then easy for the user to mark these emails as “Junk” - the MSN/Hotmail term for unwanted email. Other ISPs and email providers, such as AOL and Yahoo!, provide ways for their members to report SPAM or “report abuse” directly from their email application by simply clicking a button. Typically when an email is reported as SPAM or Junk in this manner, all emails from that sender are blocked. If several users report email from the same sender as “Junk” or “SPAM”, the sender may be blocked from delivery to all of that company’s subscribers.

Although these methods have the advantage of being quick and effective, they have some downsides too. First, they make it very easy for users to report something as SPAM or Junk by accident and may result in not getting emails from people they want to hear from. The second disadvantage is that the actions of a few users can result in emails being blocked for everyone using that ISP. For example, if a handful of AOL or Hotmail users report a MySurvey email as SPAM or Junk, survey invitations from us may be blocked for all other AOL and Hotmail users who want to get survey invitations.

Downloading and installing MySurvey Messenger is the best way of ensuring that our survey invitations reach you. To make sure our survey invitations arrive in your inbox, we recommend the following steps:

* Add the @mysurvey.com domain to your address book or Trusted Senders list (mysurvey.com is the domain that all your survey invitations are sent from). This is the best way to avoid having our emails blocked and it ensures that they arrive in your inbox, not in your bulk folder.

* Be sure we have a current, valid email address on file for you. To update your email address:
o Log into MySurvey.com with your username and password
o Click on Update Your Info (top menu)
o Provide your new email address in the space provided and click the Submit button. When you click the submit button, our files are automatically updated with your new email address.

* Log into MySurvey.com periodically to find out if there are any surveys waiting for you. We monitor delivery to most ISPs, especially the larger ISPs, but would also like to hear from you if you suspect there might be a problem - that is, you haven’t received emails from us in more than a month but when you log in, you have surveys waiting.

If you no longer wish to participate in MySurvey.com, we would appreciate it if you would unsubscribe directly at MySurvey.com - you’ll get faster results and other member survey invitations are not jeopardized. The unsubscribe process is simple and only takes a minute. A link to our unsubscribe page appears at the bottom of this newsletter as well as at the bottom of all emails we send to you.

Although the spirit of Thanksgiving hasn’t changed much since it was first celebrated, the food we traditionally eat for Thanksgiving has changed. You may be surprised to find out what the Pilgrims may have really eaten on that first Thanksgiving.

Contacting MySurvey.com Support Staff

Just a reminder that we will have limited support staff on Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day so that our staff can spend the holidays with family.
