Karlonia Approved for Panthera Network

November 6th, 2008

panthera-network-logo.jpgEarlier tonight I received a pleasant surprise in my email when I received a message from Greg Wieder, Director of Publisher Relations at the Panthera Network, notifying me that I had been approved for the program and that I would be receiving an approval mail within a few minutes. He also apologized for the delay (it had been nearly a month since I originally sent in my application) and explained that he had been away at Ad Tech in New York and was also having to deal with a large backlog of fraudulent applications. A few minutes later I did receive the official approval mail:

Hello Karl,

Congratulations. We have reviewed your application and you have been approved as a Panthera Network publisher. You may now log in to our private partner area to obtain creatives to promote all of our products and offerings. To log in, please go to www.pantheranetwork.com and log in with the following:

Username: xxxxxxxx
Password: xxxxxxxx

Your unique affiliate ID will be automatically populated in the creatives.

Please feel free to send us your comments and suggestions at any time. Our goal is to be your favorite affiliate network and your first choice when it comes to running campaigns. As a welcome bonus you will earn $150 when you generate your first $1,500 in commissions. To qualify, the $1,500 must be generated within sixty (60) days of your signup date.

The Panthera Network Team

PS: Don’t forget our referral program. The Panthera Network offers a 5% referral fee for any publishers you send our way. That’s 5% for an entire year! So sign up friends in the industry and earn when they earn.

This is very good news because it significantly expands the opportunities and options I will have for monetizing this site and giving it the “critical mass” it needs to finally become a truly successful operation. I am already familiar with many of the offers available under the Panthera Network as I have encountered them through various get-paid-to (GPT) types of sites whose owners promoted the offers to members and kept a percentage of the revenue.

Most of the offers are for things like free samples, game downloads, ringtones, or trivia quizzes. For example, here is one from QualityHealth.com where it is possible to get free samples and useful health information by clicking through to their page and submitting a valid email address.

As stated in the approval mail, Panthera also has a referral program where you can earn 5% commissions on new publishers who sign up through your link. You can reach the signup page by clicking on the Panthera logo in the upper left corner of this article. Meanwhile, here are some other facts about the program that I gleaned from the FAQ and help sections:

  1. It is possible to sign up and promote offers even if you are outside the USA. After logging into my account, I noticed that there are many offers labeled as “International”. Furthermore, some offers were specifically targeted for the UK (labeled “GBR”), while a few others were targeted to specific countries in other parts of the world.
  2. Registration is free, and there are few restrictions or requirements other than avoiding spamming behavior.
  3. Most of the offers pay per lead; in other words, you are credited after the visitor performs a certain action that the advertiser desires such as submitting a zip code, providing an email address, or filling out a survey. According to the site, it is also possible for offers to pay on a per click or per sale basis, but I did not see any of these available when I last reviewed the list.
  4. There is no limit to how many separate programs you can promote. Some of the individual merchants may have different requirements for exactly what constitutes a valid lead, however.
  5. Timing of payments: Publishers are paid on or before the 15th of each month for commissions earned during the previous month. Minimum threshold for payment is $50. Earnings below this amount are carried over to the next month.
  6. Payment method: Payments are made by check or PayPal. The default is check; if you want to switch to PayPal, you will need to contact the Affiliate Manager and request this.

I noticed that some of the offers are marked as “Incentivized”, which means that they can be promoted at places that offer some type of incentive for clicking on them, such as paid-to-read (PTR) sites. Usually I have seen these types of offers promoted by the program owners of such sites, but it is possible to run these offers as regular redemption ads as long as the PTR owner allows it. This might be a profitable way of using up unused earnings and ad credits. Meanwhile, if any of you know of other ways to make money with these types of promotions, please feel free to let us know about it in the comment section.
