Free Strategy Guides for Video Games

December 19th, 2008

Today I managed to acquire another PLR article, this one having to do with getting free strategy guides for video games. Its anonymous but observant author noticed that there are actually many free strategy guides and walkthroughs available from certain websites even though these same documents are being sold on Ebay or other commercial venues. The article describes a step-by-step method for finding them through GameFAQ.com, which I noticed has many walkthrough texts for the popular Nancy Drew series of computer games.

Meanwhile, if you would like to explore the possibilities of getting paid to play video games as a beta tester after you have found the hint to get through that next level, just click on the banner below for more information.

I was looking through Ebay in order to find Grand Theft Auto for my Playstation 3 and noticed that there were some very low prices. So I clicked inside the auction in order to buy the video game but after looking at the page again I saw that it was actually an auction for the strategy guide on the Playstation version of Grand Theft Auto. However, it also included a guide to the same game on other consoles like Xbox 360.

I did not buy the guide because it was selling for $10 and the seller stated that they would email a compressed file in .rar format to the buyer once the payment has been made. At the time, I thought that this was a relatively high price, so I went ahead and just got the game from another website. Since then I have been looking for a free version of the guide and have found some luck using the following techniques:

1. Go to www.gamefaqs.com and you will see that there is a list of systems for which they offer guides.

2. Click on the system that you would like to read a guide for (which was Playstation 3 in my case) under the header “Platforms”.

3. Once you click on the link for your favorite platform, you will be directed to the main page for that particular system. From here you can view a list of the top 10 strategy guides. You can also view a list of the most popular message boards and talk to other gamers to get help on any game that interests you.

4. Along the top of the page you see a list of all the letters in the alphabet. You should check on the letter that corresponds to the first letter of your desired game title. In my case I clicked on the letter G, scrolled down to Grand Theft Auto, and clicked the blue link for the game.

5. On the right side of the page you will see a link for data, codes, reviews, pictures, Q&A, saves, boards, and FAQs. If you would like to view the guide, you will need to click the FAQs link and this will bring you to a list of guides.

6. Click the complete guide and you will see that this is the typed version of the game guide. It is published on several pages, so you will need to click the links at the bottom of each page to view the whole thing, but it’s all there. Apparently our seller on Ebay just pasted all of the accessible versions of the free strategy guides for each game into a document and was trying to sell them!
