This article by Eru Chawla details some of the city’s main points of interest for tourists and travelers.

Being ranked twice as the most lovable city of the world, there is nothing more that needs to be explained about the spirit of the city of Melbourne. It is Australia’s second largest city and main holiday destination here. As a result, it is frequented by innumerable visitors every year.

Situated at the top of the Port Phillip Bay, it is a great amalgamation of the ancient architecture of the Victorian era, modern towers, magnificent gardens, and parks. Start by exploring the Great Ocean Road. The Twelve Apostles is an amazing landmark nearby.

Melbourne is also known to boast about extensive parklands, many of which are located towards the southeastern part of the central business district, close to the Yarra River. Birrarung Marr is the newest park here that is located in the precinct of Federation Square. Royal Botanic Gardens and Kings Domain feature various lakes, memorials, and historical monuments inside the manicured laws and gardens. The Sidney Myer Music Bowl, which has hosted a variety of outdoor musical performances, is also located in the Kings Domain region.

You may also have a fun time at the entertainment and sporting arenas featured by the Olympic Park and Melbourne Park near the Yarra River. Do not forget to unravel the adventurous side of your trip with a memorable and thrilling early morning hot balloon flight. This is one activity that is enjoyed by both children and adults equally. Peek into the city life from an entirely different angle and capture it into your memory forever.

You may try out some more interesting activities like observing and interacting with the Melbourne wildlife. For example, you can watch the penguins waddling on the shore at Phillip Island. Next you can head to the Wilsons Promontory National Park and the Goldfields in the vicinity.

And how can we forget? Shopping enthusiasts need not be disappointed as they have a plentiful supply of malls and markets to satisfy their desires. Melbourne Central, The Bourke Street Mall, Little Collins Street, and Brunswick Street along with the Queen Victoria Market are some of the places that can fill your bags with amazing stuff, purchased at good prices.

Also, the vibrant spirit of the place is maintained by sports spectaculars, festivals, wine, and gourmet food that extends all year long. Hence, entertainment and fun never sets in Melbourne, no matter when you go there.

Traveling is not a problem when you are in Melbourne as you can travel on buses, trains, and trams. However, it is also a good idea to get a car on rent. This is because a large part of Melbourne is covered by the metropolitan area and most attractions are situated at the outskirts.
