Google Affiliate Network Enables Payments Through AdSense Accounts

August 6th, 2009

google-affiliate-network.JPGAfter its acquisition of DoubleClick back in July 2008, Google has been gradually integrating the affiliate network with other services and streamlining the process of allowing publishers to assist advertisers in their ongoing quest to obtain valuable sales and leads. This morning I received an email notifying us that beginning approximately one week from today, we will be able to link our Google Affiliate Network accounts with our AdSense accounts for the purposes of accounting and receiving payments.

This is probably good news for those of us who are already earning from AdSense because it allows us to bring in another income stream from the affiliate network and track it from the same place. For everyone else, having payments routed through AdSense will allow for a greater variety of payment options (and perhaps an improvement in the speed of payments as well) than was possible through the old system. Here is the latest news on this according to Google:

Google Affiliate Network publisher payments will soon be made through Google AdSense accounts. AdSense will offer you a wider range of payment options, improved ways to manage payment information, and consolidated payments from Google (if you’re working with other Google products).

You must link to an approved AdSense account in order to receive payments for earnings. Starting on August 13, 2009, if you’re the primary user of your publisher account, you’ll see an account notification asking you to create a Google AdSense account or link to an existing Google AdSense account. (If you aren’t the primary user, you won’t see the account notification.)

You must link your accounts before midnight (Eastern Standard Time) on September 21st, 2009 to receive payments through Google AdSense for July and August 2009 earnings (depending on relevant advertiser payment terms). Please create or link an AdSense account as soon as possible to avoid delays in your Google Affiliate Network payments.

Earnings prior to July 2009 will be made through the existing Google Affiliate Network payment system.

Detailed instructions will be sent to you via email on August 13, 2009 to assist in the account linking and creation process.

Sincerely,

Google Affiliate Network Publisher Support Team

UPDATE 08/12/09: Google sent out another email today further clarifying and explaining how to link your Google Affiliate Network account to an existing AdSense account:

Starting on September 21, Google Affiliate Network publisher payments will be made through Google AdSense, which offers a wider range of payment options.

If you’re the primary Google Affiliate Network user and sign in to your account now, you’ll see a message asking you to create a Google AdSense account or link to an existing AdSense account. (Note: You may not have two AdSense accounts with the same tax identification number. If needed for tax or other purposes, you can create a new Google AdSense account under a different tax identification number.)

Please link your accounts before midnight (Eastern Standard Time) on September 21st, 2009 to receive payments through Google AdSense for your July and August 2009 earnings (depending on relevant advertiser payment terms). You must link to an approved AdSense account in order to receive payments for earnings. Please complete this process as soon as possible to avoid delays in your Google Affiliate Network payments.

How to create a new Google AdSense account or link your Google Affiliate Network account to an existing AdSense account

Linking accounts

1. If you’re the primary user, sign in to Google Affiliate Network and click Link existing AdSense account.

2. If you’re linking an existing AdSense account to your Google Affiliate Network account, enter the email address associated with your AdSense account and your publisher ID, then click Link this AdSense account.

3. Watch for a ‘Your AdSense account link is pending approval’ message in your message center and email inbox, then allow up to one hour for the linking process to complete. Once you receive an ‘AdSense account successfully linked’ confirmation message (both in the message center and to your email address), you’ll be able to start receiving payments though AdSense.

Apply for an AdSense account

1. If you’re the primary user, sign in to Google Affiliate Network and click Apply for an AdSense account.

2. Select an existing Google Account to use as the login to your Google AdSense account, or create a new Google Account.

3. Click Submit Email. Google Affiliate Network will submit this information to AdSense and create the login to your AdSense account.

4. Watch for a ‘Your email address has been submitted to AdSense’ message in your Google Affiliate Network account, then allow up to one hour for an email containing instructions to complete the AdSense application process. To ensure a timely approval, please follow the instructions in the email and complete the application process as soon as possible.

After you provide this information, AdSense specialists will review your application and send you a confirmation email within one week (often sooner). If you haven’t received a confirmation within a week, contact us.

5. Watch for a message in your Google Affiliate Network account confirming your account creation or potential alerts if a problem was encountered in creating your AdSense account. You’ll also receive an email confirming the status of your AdSense account from Google Affiliate Network.

Important notes:

  1. Any earnings from July (for advertisers on 90-day payment terms) and/or August (for advertisers on 60-day payment terms), will be posted to your linked AdSense account at the end of September. Future payments will be posted in the same manner.
  2. All earnings prior to July 2009 will be sent to the bank account or physical address in your Google Affiliate Network profile. As a result, you may receive multiple payments from Google until all outstanding earnings are paid from the previous accounting system.
  3. For specific advertiser payment terms, sign in to your Google Affiliate Network account and click the Advertisers tab, then click Join, Approved, Pending, Declined, or Deactivated, whichever is relevant.
