GourmetNut.com Affiliate Program

February 20th, 2010

GourmetNut.com - 200x200 - 10% OFFAlthough it has been a few months since I have reported on any affiliate programs, there certainly has been no shortage of them. The latest affiliate-related email to come through my inbox advertises a relatively new possibility for people who may want to try something different from the old Clickbank or Amazon routines.

This particular company is an e-commerce site called GourmetNut.com, which as the name implies offers different kinds of nuts, although they also have some other delectable goodies like chocolates, dried fruits, snack mixes, candies, and even 22 different varieties of sea salt. They seem to accept PayPal payments (at least according to the logos at the bottom of the site), so I might try some of their mixed nuts later and see how they compare with the major name brands of nuts that can be purchased locally. Meanwhile, if you’re looking for more information on the affiliate program or coupon codes, you can read the text of the newsletter below.

So What is GourmetNut.com all about?

Just what is a Gourmet Nut, might you ask? Because it is a phrase not yet listed in the dictionary (or even Wikipedia!), we decided to conjure up definition of our own. A Gourmet Nuts anyone out there who LOVES food. Whether it be for consumption, study, preparation or news, these foodies just can’t get enough of it.

Starting out as group of foodies, the Gourmet Nut team got together weekly to exchange recipes, gossip about the latest in restaurants and of course, talk about their love for food. One topic that often came up however, was the lack of a high quality, efficient and concise, gourmet food website. Every site either had too many products with terrible quality, or very few products with quality far beyond their standards, not to mention their paychecks. Something had to be done. And so the Gourmet Nut website was born.

Amazing Health Benefits of Nuts!

Despite their status as a longstanding staple, many still hesitate before munching on nuts, due to their high calorie and fat content. Although nuts do pack in the fat and calories, ranging from 10 to 22 grams of fat and 150 to 180 calories per ounce, a little goes a very long way. Fortunately, the fats found in nuts are primarily unsaturated fatty acids (both monounsaturated and polyunsaturated), which have been shown to lower the risk of heart disease and reduce low-density lipoproteins. The benefit of these fats led to an 2003 FDA-approved health claim for seven different nuts (almonds, hazelnuts, peanuts, pecans, pistachios, walnuts and some pine nuts): “Scientific evidence suggests but does not prove that eating 1.5 oz. per day of most nuts as part of a diet low in saturated fat and cholesterol may reduce the risk of heart disease.

In addition to their heart-healthy fat content, nuts are great sources of several vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. Epidemiological studies are uncovering the levels of dietary antioxidants in nuts may decrease the risk of heart disease and other chronic diseases. Almonds and peanuts are considered excellent sources of vitamin E, the most-important lipid-soluble antioxidant found in our cells. The antioxidant function of vitamin E suggests that it protects against, and possibly treats, conditions related to oxidative stress such as aging, arthritis, cataracts, diabetes and infections.

Their affiliate program is available through the Commission Junction network at cj.com, where you can register for an account if you do not already have one. After logging into CJ, you can click the “Get Links” tab and run a search for “Gourmet Nut”. This will retrieve the correct listing where you can read the details and apply for the program from there.

Thanks — I actually clicked through on the banner yesterday after replying to the last comment and eventually ordered one pound of mixed nuts from the site. I was able to pay with PayPal and the order seemed to go through OK, so we will see how it goes.
