laars-lite-heater.jpgThe Laars Lite 2 pool heater by Jandy is a lightweight, energy efficient, and effective means for heating your pool or spa. It is available in three models: LJ, LG and LD. The LG one runs on natural gas and the LD on liquefied petroleum gas, which is also called propane. The heater raises the temperature of a pool up to the 80-90 degrees Fahrenheit range, and of a spa up to 104 degrees Fahrenheit.

The Laars Lite 2 LD heater is connected to and compatible with electrical sources of both 120 V and 240 V, though the heater needs rewiring if being used with a 120 V electric supply. Basically, the heater has been designed to be used with a 240 V supply, but can be rewired to work with a 120 V supply if you are in the USA or Canada. The rewiring, if required, will need to be done by a certified technician. It has a dual thermostat Flex-Temp control system, which can be used for pool as well as spa heating. In this system, you can set two different temperature settings. It has direct ignition, and it is advisable not to light the burners by hand. Running on LP gas means that this heater cannot be placed in a depression in the ground since the gas, being heavier than air, will collect there. If you smell gas near the floor, do not use the heater. Laars Lite 2 LD is supposed to be used outdoors.

The Laars Lite 2 LG heater does not run on electricity, and is a self-contained unit using standing pilot, field-proven millivolt ignition. It must be lighted by a push button sparker. When the pilot lights come on, you should keep it pressed for at least a minute and turn on the gas for the heater to turn on. Many complaints have been registered for this heater mostly because the owners do not follow the exact instructions for lighting the heater, which are complicated. It also has an electronic thermostat. Laars Lite 2 LG has to be used indoors.

The Laars Lite 2 LJ heater comes with a liquid crystal display, a programmable pump control, dual temperature controls, and heater diagnostics. It has self-cleaning and built-in freeze protection along with a hot surface ignition that quickly switches on the heater. This heater would not require burner tray removal.

The Laars Lite 2 heater models have easy programmable features with high-performance insulation. The copper heat exchanger and Flo-Thru baffles provide efficient heat transfer. The heater models are very light and have a compact design because of the ceramic fiber combustion chamber.

Many sanitizing agents with ozone or chlorine among others can cause heater damage and corrosion. The heaters have to be used in combination with a water pump, and the water pump should be switched off at least 15 minutes after the heater is switched off. It is advisable to use a filter pump to clean the water before using the heater. The heater comes with a one year factory warranty. A solar cover should be used for saving energy and avoiding heat loss. Log on to Jandy.com to know more about the Laars Lite 2 pool heaters.
