Five Ways to Eliminate Stress

It comes as a surprise to many people that there are several things that can be done to battle stress that are right under their fingertips.

Breathe. It’s good to remember to breathe, but sometimes you need to do more than that. In many situations, stress can be altered by something as small as the amount of oxygen in our bodies. A fantastic exercise that can help is called the “4-7-8 Breath.” It was developed independently by several different cultures all at different times as a relief for stress and has been researched by various stress management experts. Basically, the 4:7:8 is a ratio of the parts of the breathing exercise. Breathe in for a count of 4, hold your breath for a count of 7, then exhale for a count of 8. The amount of time on each beat is not important, only the ratio that you use. There are other breathing exercises like these that can help your body feel less stressful.
