Ravioli are delicious little stuffed pasta squares that can be filled with just about anything that is edible. Of course, the most popular stuffing for ravioli is cheese, but you can fill them with mushrooms, spinach, butternut squash, marinated meats and so on. You can even experiment a little, perhaps use some cooked, diced apples with cheese for a stuffing with a browned butter and walnut sauce.
The point is that the possibilities are endless, but many people avoid making their own ravioli because it seems like a lot of work. Making ravioli can be tedious, but you can use shortcuts to make it a little easier on yourself. No matter what, you are going to have to carefully stuff those little pasta squares. However, you can avoid making your own pasta or even buying the dough and rolling it out. The trick is to use wonton wrappers that you can usually find in your supermarkets produce section.

Oregano, that well-known mainstay of Italian cooking, has a rich and colorful history that includes not only use as a culinary ingredient, but also medicinal applications and a connection to ancient magic. Oregano was once thought to be a gift from Aphrodite, goddess of love, and it is probable that oregano’s use in magic and medicine is at least as old as its use in the kitchen, possibly much older. As with many of our other herbs and spices, one cannot help but wonder if their use in healing and spirituality came first, to be followed at some later date by their adoption in cooking. We will never know about this, but it is safe to say that oregano has had a place in folklore and folk medicine for a very long time indeed.

Berlin is not only Germany’s capital and largest city with a population of around three and a half million, it’s also one of Europe’s most exciting and sophisticated capitals. The city is constantly reinventing itself – during the 1920s and ‘30s it was well known for its bohemian and decadent atmosphere; during the 1960s it was synonymous with the ‘cold war’ feel of the time and featured in countless spy movies. Today, Berlin is one of the most visited cities in Europe.

The Laars Lite 2 pool heater by Jandy is a lightweight, energy efficient, and effective means for heating your pool or spa. It is available in three models: LJ, LG and LD. The LG one runs on natural gas and the LD on liquefied petroleum gas, which is also called propane. The heater raises the temperature of a pool up to the 80-90 degrees Fahrenheit range, and of a spa up to 104 degrees Fahrenheit.
The Laars Lite 2 LD heater is connected to and compatible with electrical sources of both 120 V and 240 V, though the heater needs rewiring if being used with a 120 V electric supply. Basically, the heater has been designed to be used with a 240 V supply, but can be rewired to work with a 120 V supply if you are in the USA or Canada. The rewiring, if required, will need to be done by a certified technician. It has a dual thermostat Flex-Temp control system, which can be used for pool as well as spa heating. In this system, you can set two different temperature settings. It has direct ignition, and it is advisable not to light the burners by hand. Running on LP gas means that this heater cannot be placed in a depression in the ground since the gas, being heavier than air, will collect there. If you smell gas near the floor, do not use the heater. Laars Lite 2 LD is supposed to be used outdoors.
