Pasta always ranks high among the world’s best-loved foods and as any seasoned chef will advise, perfect pasta should be cooked al dente. In literal terms, al dente means “to the tooth”. Figuratively speaking, the expression refers to pasta cooked to the point where its texture may be described as firm and slightly chewy but not crunchy.
This may all sound very simple and self-evident to dedicated foodies and disciples of fine Italian dining who simply know the pasta is done “when it’s done”, but there are those among us who need a little more help. Here are a few tips for serving perfect al dente pasta for “the rest of us”.

If you fly regularly, you have probably noticed it on your ticket, itinerary, or luggage tag – that often mysterious three letter code that indicates your destination airport. Some codes are so familiar that they have almost replaced the airport name and are in common usage, such as SFO (San Francisco), LAX (Los Angeles) and JFK (John F Kennedy, New York) Others are more obscure – AAA is Anaa airport in French Polynesia; ZZV is the code for Zanesville in Ohio. The codes are used not only by airport staff, but by pilots, controllers, travel agents, and others who work in aviation and travel. Many employees are expected to memorize hundreds of the more widely used airport codes.

Whether we blame computers, human error, or a general decline in the quality of goods and services today, most of us have ample cause to register a complaint at some point. The usual procedure involves inquiries and phone calls that eventually require lodging a complaint in writing. For your letter to be as effective as possible, here are some guidelines that you can usefully follow.
1. Have a clear idea in your mind about what redress you expect. Be realistic and examine carefully whether you have any responsibility for the problem or the failure for it to be resolved. If you do, that might affect your strategy or even your legal rights. Nevertheless, pace yourself – if you’re making an initial statement of a legitimate complaint, it might not be the time and place to raise it.

If you’ve recently shopped for DVDs to watch, you may have come across the term ‘Blu-ray’. Blu-ray discs are one of the latest technological sensations (not to be confused with ‘bluetooth’, which is a mobile phone technology). Blu-ray gets its name from the blue laser that reads this kind of disc. The big advantage of Blu-ray is that it can store a lot more data than the conventional DVD.
DVDs and the like are known as optical discs. The quest to develop better quality optical discs focused on the way they are read by machines. DVDs and CDs use a red or near-infrared laser beam. Blu-ray uses a violet (blue) laser beam with a shorter wavelength. That allows a great deal more information to be written to the disc. The key difference is that a blue laser can be focused on a much smaller point on the disc’s surface. The result is that a Blu-ray disc (BD for short) can store six to ten times more data than ordinary DVDs: as much as 50 gigabytes.

England’s historic capital of London is one of the most visited destinations in Europe, but it is also one of the world’s most expensive cities. Fortunately, many of the great museums, monuments, and gardens still have no admission charge — and you can walk the streets of one of the world’s greatest cities for free. It’s also possible to eat and sleep adequately in London without breaking the bank, if you don’t mind a basic room with no luxuries.
Unless you are lucky enough to know somebody in the city, your first priority will be finding some affordable accommodations. The cheapest hotel room in London will cost around $150 for a single or double room with a wash basin and a shared bathroom. If you want a room with its own bathroom, or something a little more luxurious, expect to pay from around $150 to $250. If you opt to go with the least expensive option, be aware that some of these rooms are relatively small and may not have such basics as air conditioning, telephone, or cable TV.

Book clubs present a wonderful opportunity for voracious readers to share their passion for reading with like-minded people. While the joy of reading is most often regarded as a solitary pursuit, there is much to be gained in elevating this cerebral pleasure to the level of shared experience. Think about joining a book club in an online community, through your local library and bookstore, or better yet, start your own!
Book clubs seem to be growing in popularity at the same time that reading, in general, appears to be on the decline. This paradox may be explained by the possibility that while fewer people are reading, those who are reading books are more passionate than ever before. Perhaps it is simply the well-documented “Oprah Effect”. Oprah Winfrey’s Book Club, since its inception in 1996, has become a national phenomenon capable of catapulting book sales into the millions for previously unknown authors. Inclusion in the Oprah Club has become the Holy Grail for contemporary authors in search of commercial success.

Replacing your malfunctioning CD or DVD drive is one of the more simple maintenance activities. A few screws, a cable, and the device drivers are about all you need.
Before even purchasing your new drive, there is one thing to consider. Most new programs are coming on DVD disks, so you probably don’t want to buy just a CD-ROM. The most optimal option would be for you to purchase a CD/DVD R/RW All In One drive. This will allow you to read, record, and write both CDs and DVDs. It has the added benefits of saving you money, time, space, and the headache of having to install multiple drives.
